Recognition of Excellence in Innovation

The U.S. Department of Commerce Technology Administration Recognition of Excellence in Innovation certificate is presented by the Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology to recognize local and regional innovators throughout the United States. The recognition is given to individuals, teams, or companies doing business in the United States for the use of a new manufacturing technique, and for the introduction of new products into the market.

Nominations are encouraged and can be accepted throughout the year from local businesses, elected officials and community leaders. Nominations should be submitted to the Technology Administration.

All nominations are reviewed to make sure the innovator meets the criteria specified below. Certificates will be presented in ceremonies that can include U.S. Department of Commerce officials and local elected officials.

Who is Eligible?

Eligibility for the certificate will be on a one-time basis and will include firms that have:

  • Introduced a new product or service into the market in the last 12 months; or
  • Utilized a new manufacturing process within the last 12 months, or
  • Been issued a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office within the last 12 months.

Recognition by the Technology Administration is not an endorsement or approval of any product or service.
